Affiliate marketing is a way for advertisers to showcase their products in more creative ways where their customers are. Now that fewer people buy magazines and newspapers and fewer people watch live TV, there is less opportunity to show advertising. By incentivising affiliate marketers, a lower advertising budget is required. This serves to help reduce their advertising costs, as they only pay for the advertising when a purchase is made. The revenue generated from advertising their products serves to subsidise the news sites and blogs you love and creates an income for your favourite influencers.
